THERE ARE SEVERAL TYPES OF DENTURES:

Standard Dentures are the dentures with which people are most familiar. They are fabricated on gums that have already healed. With no teeth present, there are several more steps to the measuring of your jaw relations and the types of impressions taken.

Standard Dentures:

  • Are the more traditional denture
  • Are the most popular, basic and affordable
  • Will last for many years with proper care and maintenance
  • Customized to fit your mouth
  • Allow you to choose the shade of white for your teeth
  • Do not take advantage of the latest technology for fabricating dentures
  • Tend to have more limitations

Precision Equilibrated Dentures:

  • Are customized to function in the most natural way possible
  • Precise measurements of the movements of your jaw ensure that the dentures will function as closely as possible to the natural parameters of your mouth

IMMEDIATE DENTURES

Immediate Dentures are fabricated prior to the extraction of your natural teeth and then are inserted immediately following the removal of your remaining teeth. This ensures that you will have teeth on the day of your extraction. When inserted, the immediate denture protects the extraction sites as they heal and allows you to chew soft foods. Unlike a complete denture, a try in cannot be performed with an immediate denture.

Implant supported dentures

IMPLANT SUPPORTED DENTURES

Implant Supported Dentures are a great alternative to conventional dentures. They are an artificial replacement for the tooth roots that have been lost and can help to prevent future bone loss. Implants can increase your self-confidence and vastly improve your quality of life by allowing you to speak and laugh more naturally. With proper care and hygiene, implants can last a lifetime.

Removable Denture on Implants

Removable implant over-dentures provide stability where new teeth are attached to two or more dental implants, making this a cost-effective option. You can chew a variety of foods with confidence and your sense of taste is unaffected. Your teeth can be removed for cleaning and the need for denture adhesives is eliminated.

Removable Denture on Fixed Implant Bar

For an even more secure fit, a dental bar is fixed to your jaw bone with two or more implants, providing stronger support for your removable dentures. Your teeth can be removed for cleaning and the need for denture adhesives is eliminated.

Fixed Denture on Multiple Implants

Fixed implant supported bridges are a more durable solution with natural looking replacement teeth secured on four or more dental implants. This solution stimulates bone maintenance, restores chewing function and maintains taste sensation.

PARTIAL DENTURES

As you age, you may lose some of your natural teeth for a variety of reasons such as gum disease, tooth decay or trauma. Missing teeth can negatively affect your overall oral health for any of the following reasons:
  • Less efficient chewing
  • Uneven wear on your remaining teeth
  • Unwanted changes to the teeth adjacent to the empty space
  • Loss of bone structure in the jaw or facial muscle tone
  • Speech difficulties

A carefully designed Partial Denture will assist in supporting your existing teeth.

Partial metal dentures

A metal partial denture is structurally stronger, thinner, more hygienic and has a better fit.

Partial acrylic dentures

An acrylic partial denture is more affordable but tends to be more bulky and attaches to your natural teeth with metal clasps.

DENTURE ESSENTIALS

Soft Liners are bonded to the surface of the dentures and rest on the oral tissues. The soft liner acts as a shock absorber between the hard plastic denture base and the sensitive oral tissues covering the jaw ridges.

Patients who constantly suffer with discomfort from their dentures as a result of having next to no lower ridge remaining; thin tissue over bony areas; or chronically sore gums could benefit from a soft liner.

Soft liners can be placed on new dentures, exisitng dentures or can be replaced if you already have a soft liner that has aged from wear.

This consists of adding new base material to the tissue side of a denture so it fits properly. Relining can restore your denture to a “like new fit”. Your Denturist will need to take an impression inside your existing denture.

Relining affects only the fit of your denture and will not change the appearance or other aspects.

Relines are required when tissue changes occur due to resorption (shrinkage).

Resorption can take months or years to occur and can be due to:

  • Weight loss
  • Loss of teeth
  • Loss of bone
  • Normal aging
  • Disease or Illness

Rebasing is usually done when the denture teeth have not worn out in comparison to the denture base material.

It is a process of retro-fitting dentures by replacing all of the acrylic denture base with new acrylic, which provides a stable denture without replacing the denture teeth.
